Who we are
Job's of Oxted, 46–50 Station Road West, Oxted, Surrey RH8 9EU. You can reach us on 01883 712210 or at info@jobsofoxted.co.uk.
We are the data controller for the information described on this page. That means we decide what is collected and why. Job's of Oxted is the trading name of M. B. Job Limited, a company registered in England and Wales under number 01311157, whose registered office is at the address above.
What we collect
If you send us a message through the contact form, we collect:
- Your name
- Your email address
- Your phone number, which is optional
- What your enquiry is about, and the message you write
That's all. We don't ask for anything else, and there's nothing hidden in the form collecting more in the background.
Like every website, ours runs on a server that keeps standard technical logs. These record the pages requested, the time, the browser used, and the IP address making the request. They are kept briefly by our hosting provider for security and troubleshooting, and we don't use them to identify anyone.
Why we collect it, and our lawful basis
We use what you send us to answer your enquiry. That might mean pricing something up, checking availability, arranging a quotation visit, or simply replying to a question. Nothing else.
Our lawful basis is legitimate interests: you have contacted a shop expecting a reply, and answering you is the obvious and expected use of what you sent. Where your enquiry is a step towards buying something, the basis is taking steps at your request before entering a contract.
Where it goes
When you submit the form, two emails are sent: one to our shop inbox so we can read and reply to it, and one back to you confirming we've received it. The message is not stored in a database, a customer system or a marketing list. It lives in our email inbox, in the same way a message left on the shop answerphone lives on the answerphone.
We do not sell your information, we do not share it with other retailers, and we do not add you to any mailing list. We currently run no newsletter at all, so there is no list to be added to.
Who else is involved
A small number of suppliers handle information on our behalf in the course of running the site:
- Our website host, which serves these pages and keeps the short technical logs described above.
- Our email delivery provider, which sends the two emails generated by the contact form.
- Google, if you choose to follow the directions link on our Contact page and go through to Google Maps. That never happens on its own; see our Cookie Policy.
Each of these acts on our instructions and cannot use your information for their own purposes.
How long we keep it
We keep enquiry emails for as long as they're useful. That usually covers the time a purchase, a quotation or an aftercare question is live, and a period afterwards in case you come back to us about it. In practice it means up to 24 months from our last contact with you, after which we delete them.
If you'd like us to delete your enquiry sooner, ask us and we will.
Your rights
Under UK data protection law you have the right to ask us for a copy of the information we hold about you, to have it corrected if it's wrong, to have it deleted, and to object to our using it. There's no form to fill in and no charge. Email or phone us and we'll deal with it.
