Our story

Edward Job opens in Oxted

Just weeks before the outbreak of the First World War, Edward Job opened his first ironmongery shop on Station Road West, serving the practical needs of local homes long before furniture became part of the story.

Service as standard

A hundred years in, this is simply how we look after people.

Long before it was a selling point, looking after people was just how the shop ran, and it still is. Local delivery is free, brought to your door by two of our own team and set down in the room it's meant for. We assemble what we deliver in your home, place it properly, and clear the packaging away before we leave. And when you're choosing flooring, our quotations are free and without obligation, with samples to borrow and live with first.

None of that is an added line on the bill. Taking your old furniture away is the one thing we charge for, a small fee arranged before we deliver. Everything else, after this long, we just call service.
