What we aim for
We aim to meet version 2.2 of the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) at level AA. That is the standard used across UK public services. We test as we build rather than auditing at the end.
What that means in practice
On every page of this site:
- You can reach and operate everything with a keyboard alone, and a clearly visible outline shows where you are.
- A "skip to content" link is the first thing a keyboard or screen reader reaches, so you don't have to go through the menu on every page.
- Text meets or exceeds the contrast minimum against whatever sits behind it.
- Buttons and the main controls are at least 44 pixels in both directions, so they can be pressed accurately on a phone or with an unsteady hand. Lists of text links, like the ones in the footer, are spaced far enough apart that you won't catch the one next to the one you wanted.
- Body text starts at 16 pixels and scales with your browser's text size, rather than being fixed at a small size.
- Headings, landmarks and form labels are marked up properly, so a screen reader announces the page in a sensible order. Form labels stay visible rather than vanishing as you type.
- If your device is set to reduce motion, the movement on the site stops. That setting is honoured everywhere, not only in some places.
What we know isn't perfect
The gaps we know about:
- The map on the Contact page is a picture, so it carries no information of its own. The shop's full address, opening hours and a directions link all sit beside it as plain text, so nothing is available only inside the map.
- Supplier logos are supplied to us as images. Each one sits inside a link that reads out the supplier's name to a screen reader, but the logos themselves can't be resized as crisply as text.
- Some photographs of room settings are decorative. Where a photograph carries real information, it's described; where it's there for atmosphere, it's marked so a screen reader skips it rather than reading out a description that tells you nothing useful.

There is step-free access into the showroom from Station Road West, and parking nearby.
